Mining activities can generate a significant amount of wastewater containing various pollutants posing environmental challenges. Additionally, mines are also facing tougher challenges as regulations are imposed that require higher levels of wastewater treatment prior to discharge.
One such area is the toxicity of mine water effluent -- which can be related to several parameters, most notably metals, ammonia and nitrogen. Metals removal is achieved through physical-chemical processes, but ammonia and nitrogen are much more complex toxicity sources to address.
In this webinar, we will evaluate sustainable biological treatment methods for ammonia and nitrogen for mines to comply with stringent discharge-to-the-environment regulations relating to toxicity to aquatic life.
