OPUS® and HPD technologies for Zero Liquid Discharge applications and Biothane® EGSB are now listed as Core Technologies of Environmental Protection and Clean Production in China
Oct 15, 2012 Shanghai, China - Veolia Solutions & Technologies has been awarded by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF) for its OPUS® and HPD technologies for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD ) applications and Biothane® EGSB technology as the Core Technologies of Environmental Protection and Clean Production in China Petroleum and Chemical industry.
The award was received in Nanjing last month during the National Petroleum and Chemical Industry New Technologies, New Products and New Equipment for Environmental Protection and Clean Production Seminar 2012.
Zhou Zhuye, Vice Chairman, CPCIF addressed, "The mature technologies for energy saving, clean production, waste water treatment are greatly in need in terms of quantity and effectiveness, especially for treating the high concentration and non-degradable waste water in petroleum and chemical industry. The government, association, environmental service companies and petroleum and chemical companies should work together to strengthen the technologies research & development and roll-out."
Out of more than 200 applications, Veolia innovative technologies have been recognized as key to help China petroleum and chemical industry meet the requirements of energy saving and emission reduction in line with the 12th Five-year Plan and are now listed in the Catalogue of Core Technologies for Environmental Protection and Clean Production in Petroleum and Chemical Industry which was published during the event.
OPUS®, a Veolia proprietary technology, is an Optimized Pretreatment and Unique Separation process for desalination of feed water with high concentrations of silica, organics, hardness, boron and particulates. This unique technology generates high quality water with a low waste volume especially for refinery wastewater reuse applications.
In the chemical and hydrocarbon processing industries, HPD technologies for evaporation and crystallization are critical to various production processes. Designed specifically for the unique requirements of the industry, these processes recover large volumes of water for beneficial reuse, minimize waste volumes, recovery of by-products, and provide flexible options for solid waste disposal.
Biothane® EGSB is widely accepted as a BAT standard (best available technology) for anaerobic treatment of wastewater. It is an extremely compact, high performance anaerobic treatment process for industrial effluents using granular sludge. With more than XX references in the chemicals industry it is very reliable and sustainable.
