The Global Water Summit 2018, brought together political and economic decision-makers in Paris on 16 and 17 April on the theme of “Transcending boundaries in the water sector”, to explore new economic models. During the Summit Veolia showcased its latest digital technologies for water management.

Three themes were addressed at the opening plenary of the summit, in which Laurent Auguste, Senior EVP Innovation & Markets, participated:  digital solutions which revolutionize water engineering; new financing methods which facilitate the achievement of sustainable development objectives; public services and industry joining forces to invent new shared and multi-use infrastructure models.

The CEO of Veolia Water Technologies, Jean-François Nogrette, explained during the CEO Forum that the development of digital cloud-based applications opens up new opportunities in the water sector:

Thanks to reliable data available in real-time 24/24 and 7/7 on secure platforms, our customers' confidence in water quality is growing. For example, in Denmark the company Bluekolding, who transforms wastewater into resource, has chosen the digital solution Aquavista from Veolia to optimize its energy production in the form of biogas, thanks to real-time access to information on our secure digital platform."

The new “digital water plant” creates value for customers:  it strengthens confidence in water quality and optimises the performance of installations. It creates more flexibility for the user. Secure information, available in real time on any terminal, “renews the pact of trust with our customers”, concluded Jean-François Nogrette.
