PFAS compounds are an emerging threat to the environment. Since these compounds concentrate at the wastewater facility, it is imperative our industry and practitioners get ahead of this contaminant and find solutions to meet future challenges. Veolia, in partnership with the University of Dayton, has developed models to optimize a medium temperature drying and in combination with a high temperature, oxygen-enriched thermal oxidation, to safely and sustainably treat PFAS laden sludge at wastewater facilities. Our speakers will share highlights and result from recent research studies to demonstrate the efficacy of this advanced process to destroy PFAS in solids, treat the process sidestream liquids, all while ensuring emission is clear of contaminants
