– Merck, the world's oldest pharmaceutical and chemical company, is a leading science and technology company in healthcare, life science and performance materials.
Veolia has been awarded a new contract for the design and installation of a wastewater treatment plant by Merck for its factory located in Tres Cantos, Madrid.
With this order, Merck renews its conf idence in Veolia Water Technologies as water treatment specialist. Indeed in 2008, Veolia was responsible for the design and installation of a purified water system with a capacity of 7.5 m³/h for the Tres Cantos factory.
This installation consists of modular MBBR Pack
plant, a new technology developed specif ically for the treatment of industrial effluents with high concentrations of highly biodegradable compounds and relatively small f lows, from AnoxKaldnes™.
The modular plant is designed to treat 90 m³/d of water and reduce inf luent COD by up to 50% without requiring a subsequent separation stage.
Each plant has two moving bed bioreactors of 25 m³ that can work under anaerobic conditions, anoxic and / or aerobic conditions depending on the needs in each particular case.
The MBBR Pack
features a design that could easily be upgraded for the second phase to meet future increases in production while still providing a stable system performance and
of fering a small footprint.
