Veolia supplies treatment technologies and expertise to manage sludge from Oil & Gas facilities in Kuwait

8 july 2015
Veolia is supplying the sludge treatment technologies to two oil refineries as part of a major project that covers a broad revamping of Kuwait National Petroleum Company facilities. Veolia is providing its expertise to the joint venture that manages the project and was set up between Fluor, Daewoo and Hyundai.

Pyrofluid - Oil & Gas Koweit

The technologies to be supplied and commissioned by Veolia include:
  • Veolia’s own Pyrofluid™ thermal treatment solution with a capacity of 5.2 tons of oily and biological sludge per hour;
  • A steam-producing waste-heat boiler and two heat exchangers;
  • Dry fume treatment technologies;
  • A system to handle and store sludge with two 2,340 m3 silos;
  • Storage and dosing reagents.
In addition, Veolia will purchase and manufacture all the required equipment, instrumentation, piping and structures, sourcing them through its own network of subcontractors based in Europe and the Middle East.

Thierry Froment, the head of Veolia Water Technologies Oil & Gas business, said “This contract is a clear indication of how Veolia Water Technologies is in an ideal position to further develop in the Oil & Gas sector in the Middle East. It is one of the few water technology companies able to deliver a project of this complexity, having at its disposal such a wide range of proven technologies perfectly adaptable to oil and gas customers in the region.”

These technologies contribute to the improvement of industrial processes across numerous sectors and around the world. Together with Veolia’s know-how, they ensure that harmful pollutants are treated and disposed of in a way that avoids damage to the environment.

The project should be delivered in the next 16 months.
