The use of Veolia’s HPD®-PIC™ (draft tube baffle) Crystallizer Technology will not only increase total potassium sulfate output, but also provide for a more efficient plant operation.  Veolia’s system has been integrated into the existing Compass Minerals plant such that it will allow for higher product yields, achieve higher purity, and use less water due to more efficient recycling within the process.

The project, which began with bench-scale testing at Veolia’s Research & Development facility near Chicago, has completed the engineering phase and currently is in the midst of fabrication.  All major and ancillary equipment is scheduled for delivery later in 2015 with startup expected in late 2016.

Compass Minerals provides essential minerals that help keep people safe, feed the world and enrich lives. Notably, the company produces sulfate of potash specialty fertilizer that is approved for use in organic production of fruits, vegetables, tree nuts and other high-value crops. Compass Minerals also produces salt, magnesium chloride and other plant nutrients for distribution primarily in North America. Products from Compass Minerals serve a variety of applications in industrial, agricultural, commercial and consumer markets.  A New York Stock Exchange listed company (NYSE: CMP), Compass Minerals generated $1.3 billion in revenue in 2014.
